Waiting Game

Well its been a while since I have post and school news. Classes are going good. The morning classes are perfect. The extra time is a blessing because we have long assignments. We have celebrated Devans Birthday. I made a cake and May brought ice cream. He was really surprised. He wants a cuban cigar, but I will need to speak to his dad before that will happen. See if it is ok for me to bring him one back after Christmas in the Caymans. Football season is still going strong and we play friday night in the first round of playoffs. To bad we have to drive to Stratford 2 and one half hours away, but it will be worth it for my boys. Good Luck and hopefully will be writing about round 2 next. Soon there will be some cuts and they will tough on many. But the cuts must come. There is no money to pay the employees. Someone has to go. We will just need to stand up and take it like and adult, its not a personnal thing it is a money problem. Someone must go, but the wait and uncertainty is stressing us out, playing the waiting game. Maybe it will all be over soon.

Major Changes

I stayed up late last night to hear the outcome of the board meeting. Will the schedule change to 4 days a week. The day will begin at 8am and end at 4:35pm, that is a long day. Will we be able to endure? I predict in about a month it will seem like a normal schedule. I have taught for 27 years and have never worked 4 days a week. I am sure I will enjoy the extra day off and there will be some school days that seem to drag on and on. Many are worried that there child will not be able to concentrate and endure the long day. Change is always difficult, and never welcomed by some, but once we get into the new schedule I'm sure that it will be fine. Many changes have come and gone in my many years of teaching and I have learned to always except the change and find the good in it. If the teachers are positive it makes a big difference in a young life.

Friday Night Lights

Oh my gosh, we attended the football game at Quinton on Sept. 11,2009. The famous field for hankies on the field. They do not announce a flag on the field, the yell out hankie on the field, sometimes its even fresh hankie thrown. The announcer explained how to shut up your wife, have her tonsils removed. Not sure how many hankies flew tonight, but I lost count and I am pretty good with numbers. The game was exciting, Gore and Quinton were tied up 7-7 with 1 min to go and we were on the 5 yard line getting ready to score. Fresh hankie flies and Gore backs up 5 more yards. They run one more play and don't score, no timeouts. The punting team runs on the field and hikes the ball with 2 seconds left and the ball goes directly through the goal post. Gore wins 10 to 7 and the clock runs out. Exciting game. Congratulations to my boys. Everyone played really good. Team work was what it took to win and you showed us how a team working together could overcome. One of the most exciting games I have ever attended. And I got to sit and talk to Stan the Man, my next door neighbor from childhood.

Chemistry II

School has started and I have the privileged of teaching Chemistry II this year. Although most of my students are at least 12 inches taller than I am, they show me respect most of the time. Almost all of them are football players or cheerleaders, so I have to go watch my kids play and cheer and I call they my kids because I have spent 4 years with them and I have gotten very close to them. We have to discuss the game on Monday. Draw the map to the next game on Thursday. And watch CMT maybe if they behave and get their work done. "We even made Chemical ice cream for Jaykobs B-Day. Our next project will be a chemical apple pie and make that ice cream again to put on the pie. Oh so delicious. How does this relate to Chemistry. Come by and visit and join our lessons on chemical reactions and how freezing points change due to the addition of substances. Chemistry can be fun some of the time.
